The Perinatal Syphilis Warmline, in partnership with Mother and Child Alliance (MACA), provides linkage to treatment and support for pregnant individuals who face barriers accessing treatment for latent syphilis (late latent or syphilis of unknown duration). The Warmline and MACA accept referrals from providers in Cook County and the collar counties for patients that have already received an initial dose of Bicillin L-A (penicillin G benzathine) and require second and third doses of treatment. MACA’s medical staff coordinates treatment administration at home, helping patients who face challenges such as transportation or childcare. The program’s goal is to ensure that pregnant people receive timely and adequate syphilis treatment, improving outcomes for both pregnant individuals and infants.
